I can’t think of a more apropos recent example of a roller coaster during baseball’s regular season than this year’s Texas Rangers. In the month of August, the Rangers were viewed both as the American League’s leading contender to make the World Series and also had a large swath of their fan base throw in the towel for how crap they looked against average, at best, teams. Texas started hot, cooled off, got hot again — six players made the final All-Star Game roster; and five of them started — sucked, turned red hot, grunted through a 12-out-of-10 on the mondo-dook-o-meter, and now are one game away from sweeping the Blue Jays, one of its main competitors for a Wild Card spot, in Canada.
Dodgers World Series guarantee was trash! | Trash Talkin’ Tuesday
Not to mention, after crapping away the 3.5-game lead in the AL West the Rangers had over the cheatin’ Astros and a 7.5-game lead over the third-place Mariners they had a month ago at this time, mainly due to losing 16 of 20 between Aug. 16 and Sept. 6, they’ve won their last five, with another round of manageable matchups coming down the pike. Aside from tonight’s game in Toronto, the Rangers have one opponent left on their schedule that’s not hovering around .500 or worse. Texas’ remaining seven games against Seattle, including a 4-game series in the Pacific Northwest to end the season, will likely determine both teams’ playoff destiny, or lack thereof.
The Rangers’ current turnaround was unexpected because before they went north of the border, the Blue Jays weren’t slumping, winning eight of their last 10 games. It was two teams going in opposite directions who then employed a double reverse uno card. This all comes while Texas’ big trade-deadline acquisition, Max Scherzer, hasn’t done a damn thing for the team and got booed in Queens during the team’s recent series against the Mets. Then Scherzer gets hurt on Tuesday night and is likely done for the year, because the Rangers can’t have nice things or flaming bags of poop. How this journey will end for a resurgent team under a first-year manager who’s still somehow disappointing will be one of the most interesting stories in baseball over the last several years.
It would shock no one if the Rangers made the playoffs. At their best, they’re clearly one of the best teams in baseball. It would also shock no one if Texas missed the playoffs, because, at its worst, it’s as effective as washing your hands with mustard. But it’s still better than Oakland with those yellow-drenched (Rollie) fingers. It’s anyone’s guess which version of the Rangers will show up on any given night. Through three games in Toronto, Texas has outscored the Blue Jays 26-7. Against Houston earlier this month, the Rangers were outscored 39-10 in a 3-game sweep. It’s hard to know where to gauge expectations for the team, because blatant examples of both have been so easy to see and analyze.
I still have a hard time believing the Rangers won’t be in the playoffs, even though they’re a game back of Houston in the AL West and only a game ahead of Toronto in the Wild Card standings. There’s just too much quality in Arlington compared to the rest of the American League to believe otherwise. That is, when the Rangers are good, they have that much potential and they’ve shown they can’t be trusted.
The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association launched their very own men’s professional T20 franchise league in 2023, known as the Uttar Pradesh T20 League. And while there hasn’t been a very long history behind the tournament so far, we saw some exceptional knocks with the bat as well as some electrifying bowling spells in the first edition itself.
On this page, we’re going to concentrate on some of the best batting performances in the UP T20 League. We’re talking about the centuries scored in the history of this competition. In the first season itself, there were multiple 3-digit scores brought up by batsmen hailing from 6 different cities in Uttar Pradesh and you can keep reading to see our complete UP T20 League centuries list…
The first player to achieve a triple digit score in the UP T20 League was Swastik Chikara who represented the Meerut Mavericks in the first edition of the tournament. The team led by Rinku Singh had Chikara batting at the top of the order and that allowed him to get not just one, but multiple entries in the UP T20 League centuries list, in the first season itself.

Chikara went on to score as many as three UP T20 centuries, which also took him to becoming the highest run scorer in the UP T20 League 2023 tournament. Despite all the big IPL and Team India names in the league, it was Chikara who shone in the first season. See below for our complete UP T20League centuries list, last updated 9th September 2023, towards the end of the UP T20 2023 season:

Apart from Chikara, Sameer Rizvi also got a century in this competition, when he smashed 122(59) for Kanpur Superstars in reply to Chikara’s first century of the league. This remains the only instance in the league where two UP T20 League centuries were scored in a single game. Rizvi’s 122 is also the highest individual score in the UP T20 League history so far.
With a few games left in the first season and many years left in the UP T20 League, along with the fact that there’s plenty of batting talent in this state, we can expect many many more centuries scored in this competition. You can keep coming back to our Read Scoops UP T20 League centuries list for a real-time update on every triple digit score in this tournament.

Injury information from covers.com.
Interesting Trends
Under head coach Kalen DeBoer, the Washington Huskies are 11-2, including 7 straight wins. UW also covered the spread in their previous 4 games. The total has gone under in 4 of 6.
Boise State ended 2022 with 4 losses in 6 games. The under is again in play as the total has gone under in 10 of the Broncos’ last 11 road games.
Outlook
Washington Defense vs. Boise State Offense
Boise State might not be the offensive powerhouse Washington is, but they can move the ball, especially on the ground. The latter is an area UW had problems with last season. Eddie Olufoshio is the Huskies’ new starting middle linebacker, and his mettle will be put to the test early.
The Broncos come to Seattle without their leading receiver from last season, Latrell Caples. It’s on quarterback Taylen Green to make UW pay when the defense stacks the box. That’s much easier said than done against “Defensive Back University.”
Green can run with the ball, averaging over 7 yards per carry in 2022. Washington’s defense must play disciplined on the edges to keep Green between the tackles.
Washington Offense vs. Boise State Defense
The Broncos have a perpetually stingy defense. In 2022, they allowed more than 23 points in a game only twice. BSU still has a tough task to keep up that production against a Washington Huskies offense that was college football’s seventh-highest-scoring team with 39.6 points per game.
Most of Washington’s impact players return in 2023, led by quarterback Michael Penix Jr. UW’s signal caller threw for 4,641 yards and 31 touchdowns in his debut season in Seattle.
Penix has all three of his top targets back as well. Jalen McMillan and Rome Odunze each had more than 75 catches, 1,100 yards, and 7 TDS.
A notable omission from Washington’s lineup is starting running back Cam Davis. Boise State won’t have an easy task capitalizing on his absence. The Huskies boast depth in the backfield with Mississippi State transfer Dillon Johnson and returning redshirt sophomore Will Nixon.
Washington’s offensive line underwent changes from last season. The unit must gel quickly. Boise State’s defense is renowned for its aggressiveness, and the Broncos will undoubtedly come after Penix early and often.
Catch up with PNWS on Sunday when we present our biggest takeaways from the game.
The Seattle Mariners made a significant investment in a young Cuban outfielder in January of 2022 when they signed Lazaro Montes for $2.5 million as an International Free Agent. He is currently listed at 6-foot-3 weighing 210 pounds and brings lots of physical projection to the table.
Jason Churchill ranks him as the Mariners 11th best prospect in their system currently. He says, “Montes is a big-bodied teenager who projects as a bat-only prospect limited to first base or DH. But with big bat speed and impressive bat-to-ball skills, the upside here is pretty high, and time is on his side — he won’t turn 19 until October and he’s already mashed his way to full-season ball.”
He did earn that promotion to full-season ball about a month ago and since then he has been on fire at the plate for the Modesto Nuts. In 24 games the Cuban outfielder is slashing .320/.426/.598 with seven doubles, a triple, and six home runs. He has been walking over 13% in 115 plate appearances in Modesto and striking out just under 24% of the time.
If Mariners fans have MiLB.TV they should check in on Montes and the rest of the Nuts roster because they only have nine games remaining. Their season concludes on September 10 against Fresno.

Mariners Reunite with former Catcher Luis Torrens
The Seattle Mariners signed Luis Torrens to a minor league contract and he was assigned to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. Torrens was acquired by the Mariners in the famous trade the Mariners made with the San Diego Padres where Seattle acquired Ty France, Taylor Trammell, and Andres Muñoz along with Torrens. He played in parts of three seasons with the Mariners and hit .239/.297/.388 with a 94 OPS+ in just over 600 plate appearances.
In 2023 the 27-year-old has played in 19 minor league games with the Nationals Triple-A affiliate and played in 13 games in the big leagues with the Cubs. Now Torrens is back in Tacoma with the Rainiers, making his debut earlier this week.
The Mariners were in the market for another catcher due to Tom Murphy being on the shelf with a thumb injury currently. The club called up Brian O’Keefe from Tacoma when Murphy went down but O’Keefe has only one hit in 13 at bats. Torrens adds depth at the Triple-A level along with veteran catcher Pedro Severino. If the Mariners want to go in a different direction than O’Keefe backing up Cal Raleigh they now have another option in Torrens.

To become a champion athlete, one needs to eat like a champion too, and an ordinary diet won’t do them any good. Similar is the case with World Champion Neeraj Chopra, who has to maintain a body fat percentage of 10%, which is best suited for javelin throwers.
But it’s easier said than done. The 25-year-old has to follow a really strict diet routine which can’t go haywire. Recently, in an interview with ESPN, he revealed his diet. He went on to say that he starts his day either with coconut water or juice.
Then for breakfast, he keeps it light and consumes three egg whites, two slices of bread, some dalia, and fruits. For lunch, he prefers curd and rice, with some dal, grilled chicken, and some salad. In between meals he usually has some dry fruits, especially almonds, and some fresh juice.
Dinner is light, and mostly consists of soup, bolied vegetables, and some fruit. As an athlete, he requires a good amount of protein as well, and relies on suppements for that. In fact, meat was a recent addition to his diet and was strictly a vegetarian until 2016.
“It’s supposed to be good for you. I’ve started eating it recently. If I have to eat non-vegetarian food, I’ll prefer having some grilled salmon,” he revealed. In his earlier interviews, he had said that when on a break or when at home, he prefers having churma.

The Atlanta Braves placed Yonny Chirinos on the injured list Monday with right elbow inflammation and recalled fellow right-hander Allan Winans from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Will Conor McGregor’s next fight be the greatest comeback ever? | Agree to Disagree
Chirinos, 29, has struggled since he was selected off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays in July. In five starts with Atlanta, he is 1-1 with a 9.27 ERA, while allowing 13.3 hits per nine innings.
In five major league seasons, Chirinos is 20-15 with a 4.03 ERA in 69 appearances (38 starts). All but five of those appearances were with the Rays.
Winans, 28, made his major league debut July 22 and went 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA in two starts for the Braves earlier this season. He struck out 14 batters in 11 1/3 innings.
